The RVT Hot August Fringe is a one-of-a-kind London live performance festival running from 27 July – 28 August at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. The RVT, home of some of the best edgy and alternative comedy, theatre and performance in London, has programmed the finest emerging and established talent to ensure the HOT AUGUST FRINGE is as wild and unpredictable as possible. Expect five weeks full of sharp comedy, brilliant bands, incredible cabaret, spoken word, unforgettable theatre and hilarious hi-jinx.
The Hot August Fringe consists of up to 4 exiting performances a night, Monday till Friday. Door opens at 6:00pm, with the first show at 6:30pm and a further three shows at 8:00pm, 9:30pm and 11:00pm, all finished in time for the last tube home. Thursdays and Fridays are party nights finishing with live bands, guaranteeing that you will miss the last tube home. We have a tasty food menu to avoid rumbly tummies during our shows and Show tickets and meal deals are available from the TicketWeb or on the door.
Just a little history to wet your appetites
The Royal Vauxhall Tavern is one of London's most celebrated alternative performance venues with a unique history spanning more than a century of live performance and social notoriety dating back to 1865 when the present pub was first built and back even further with the famous Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens during the 18th century.
It has been the stomping ground of performers ranging from Lily Savage (Paul O'Grady) to David Hoyle, the Cholmondeleys and Featherstonehaughs and jazz diva Gill Manly. Artists including, Julian Clary, Graham Norton, Justin Bond, Diana Dors and many others have performed at the RVT and it continues to be one of the best venues to see exciting and innovative cabaret in a warm, friendly atmosphere which can be a mad mix of a café chanson and music-hall boozer. It presents cabaret, comedy, music and more every night of the week along with club nights such as the legendary Duckie and S.L.A.G.S Chillout on Sunday.
